Kim Evans is South African born currently living in Harare, Zimbabwe having gained prior working experience in Johannesburg and Cape Town, in a number of roles in the Public Relations & Communications, Sports Events & Marketing and Media & Publishing sectors.
Kim’s passion for self development and a deeper understanding of ourselves as individuals began with her completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Industrial Psychology. Her years at the University of Johannesburg saw her major in Psychology, Human Resources Management and Organisational Psychology. These studies have equipped her with the tools to further explore what drives us as unique human beings in a variety of environments.
Kim began her career with the largest independent publishing house in Africa, Highbury Media, where she gained unparalleled experience in Media and Communications, and establishing herself as a respected Sports Event Marketer. Working alongside acclaimed sports journalists, international athletes and coaches, Kim quickly learned the value of relationship building and the benefits of creating win-win situations.
Kim’s subsequent work as Sports Administrator and Assistant to the President of SASCOC (South African Sports Confederation & Olympic Committee) offered her opportunities to work at the London Olympic & Paralympic Games in 2012, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland and African Games in Brazzaville, Congo in 2014. Such exposure to world class sporting events impressed upon Kim the importance of creative co-operation among diverse and skilled individuals, as well as the diplomatic protocols in dealing with dignitaries from around the world.
Kim then dived into the Public Relations and Communications sector in her role as Account Manager at Splash PR handling the PUMA account. This involved creating strategies and campaigns, planning content, prioritising client demands and managing media and client expectations. Pushing the boundaries of self development, Kim created the opportunity to work with Usain Bolt during the PUMA School of Speed talent identification athletics series, highlighting the mantra “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve” – Napoleon Hill.
Driven by her need for continual personal development, Kim’s experiences in Harare have seen her work with Minister of Sport, Art and Culture, Honourable Kirsty Coventry, leading civil engineering contractors, Bitumen World and homegrown sauce and sachet food manufacturers, Efoods.
Kim is married with two furry, four-legged children with an affinity for competing in sports such as crossfit, hockey, golf, tennis and enjoys running recreationally. Her love for baking balances out her holistic approach to overall mental, physical and spiritual wellness.
